The end of the year is approaching and holiday busyness is all around us. Boy do I feel busy right now. Plus a bit of contraction in my body. I subconsciously think that if I hold on I’ll get it all done in time. NOT the case.
No matter what’s going on for you right now I’m sure you can identify with having a lot to do and not enough time to do it.
How does your body respond?
Do you contract? What I mean by contract is, your breathing is tight, maybe your body aches in places and you feel like a board moving through space.
If this is the case, there is help you can give yourself.
Stay like a board or take a moment to pay attention.
It doesn’t take time, it just takes a moment. The movements you did in class or what you learned in hands-on Functional Integration with me is doable in a moment.
A few things to do when you stop and pay attention.
In the semi-private program last week we did a movement lesson with the jaw. You weren’t there? No problem.
What you can do:
Sit or lie down. Open your mouth and close your mouth a tiny little bit and I mean tiny. Immediately your body will respond by taking a big breath and you’ll feel immediate relief. You can do this in bed before you go to sleep or even sitting at your desk. Do it wherever you like.
Stop in your tracks, and pay attention to your breathing.
Feel your body where you are, sitting or standing or lying and notice your breathing. Just paying attention this little bit will make your breath fuller and help you relax.
Breathing and paying attention is my theme song for the last weeks of December.
Want to hone your skills in paying attention (aka awareness) and make your body feel better?
